KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – State Senate Environment and Energy Committee chairman Sean McCann is pushing to get a three-year utility rate freeze enacted to give people relief from repeated rate hikes.
McCann, a Kalamazoo Democrat who is also running for Congress against Republican incumbent Bill Huizenga, says the “notion is important and strong” even if he’s unsure the bill can be passed by December 31st.
Attorney General Dana Nessel also said at a roundtable at Western Michigan University with McCann that she has met with lawmakers about proposals that haven’t been introduced yet and says she believes the political will exists to pass the bills.
