HASTINGS, MI — The Gilmore Car Museum has broken ground on two cornerstone projects of its “Fuel the Future” capital campaign. The museum said in a press release it has started construction on the Performance Car Gallery expansion and the new Education and Engagement Center.
The total cost of the project is $3.6 million with expected completion in April 2027. The plan is to open to the public in May 2027, according to the release.
The Performance Car Gallery expansion will add nearly 13,700 square feet of exhibit space, expanding the museum’s storytelling beyond 1975 and through the year 2000, according to reports.
The Gilmore Car Museum is located at 6865 W. Hickory Road in Barry County is often considered North America’s largest automotive museum. It’s campus south of Hastings covers over 90 acres.
