Description:
</p>
<p>
With all the WMU students heading back to classes I thought
I’d feel like a college kid again and try a WMU and Kalamazoo “landmark” that has been around for 27 years. University Roadhouse is fittingly right across the
street from WMU making it a perfect college hangout spot. The place is chill with
tons of bar, patio, and indoor seating.
</p>
<p>
I went with a friend on a Monday which had an awesome deal: “$6
Burger & Beverage Special.” I was sold. The best part (listen up
vegetarians) is I could make it a veggie burger and I got that with fries, a
pickle, and a lemonade (could’ve also got a Bud Light but I wasn’t feeling it)
for only $6! In fact, I even paid for my friend’s pecan chicken salad (because
she’s a broke college student and I know her pain) and our total bill was only
$20. The burger was good, nothing crazy. I’ll definitely have to come back and
try some of their more unique options. Overall
it’s a very reasonably priced place with basic dinner food options and some
pretty great specials if you come on the right days.
</p>
<p>
Speaking about specials, I need to go back on a Sunday for
their Sunday brunch and $3 mimosas or $5 AZO Bloody Marys, YUM. Their happy hour
drink specials are pretty great too. $2 wells, $3 drafts and wines, and $4
micro brews from 2-6pm Monday through Friday. It’s definitely a place that
caters their drinks and food towards college students which obviously makes
sense.
</p>
<p>
They have a ton of different dinner options like burgers, sandwiches,
fish, soups, salads, stir-fry, pizza, and some awesome sounding desserts. They
even have a decently large cocktail, wine, and beer menu, making it a perfect first
stop on a bar crawl or maybe just a chill night out.
</p>
<p>
Overall I’ll definitely be back for a drink, for breakfast,
and probably for a drink during breakfast. You can tell this place really loves
WMU and their customers because they’re giving students reasonably priced food (that’s
different than their usual on campus cafeteria options) walking distance from
campus.
</p>
<p>
Oh also they’re now straw-free which makes my little
recycling, environmentally-friendly heart so happy.
