<p>
Overview:
</p>
<p>
Restaurant: East Egg
</p>
<p>
Location: 5 locations.
I went to the one near WMU (2628 W. Michigan Ave Kalamazoo, MI 49006)
</p>
<p>
Price: Food = Super cheap with great portions. You can get a
full breakfast, coffee, and leave a nice tip for less than $12.
</p>
<ul>
<li>
Atmosphere: Cute, casual, breakfast diner feel. I like their
colorful plates and fun decorations.
</li>
<li>
Service: Can be busy sometimes but still good, fast servers.
</li>
<li>
Food Options: Your basic breakfast options, nothing too
crazy: egg combos, scramblers, omelets, benedicts, crepes, pancakes, French
toast, etc.
</li>
<li>
Taste: Nothing mind-blowing but still delicious.
</li>
<li>
Vegetarian Options: A handful of options. I’d recommend the “Hippie
Hash” but you can also create your own omelet or try any of their griddle items
like pancakes, crepes, French toast, etc.

Description:
</p>
<p>
East Egg is your
typical breakfast joint with traditional, delicious, and cheap options. They
have 5 locations in Richland, Kalamazoo’s Milwood Neighborhood, Portage,
Mattawan, and one near WMU’s campus, which is the one I went to.
</p>
<p>
Obviously
being so close to a college it has a very “college hangover Sunday feel,” which isn't a bad thing, just expect
it to be busy on the weekends in the late morning. But overall the atmosphere
is fun and welcoming with a colorful and decorated dining room.
</p>
<p>
This is a perfect
place for anyone that is “balling on a budget” (like me). Breakfast options are
very reasonably priced and you get very nice portions for the little amount you
pay. It’s exactly how a breakfast restaurant should be, I mean, you should
never have to pay an arm and a leg for the most important meal of the day.
</p>
<p>
For my vegetarian
friends, I HIGHLY recommend the Hippie Hash: a mix of artichokes, spinach, mushroom, tomato, peppers,
potatoes and onion with feta and eggs. So delicious. It was a ton of food and
they did not skimp out on any of the items inside the hash. It also comes with
toast so I tried their cinnamon toast and
obviously I had to try every jelly option they had as well. If you see my
pictures I literally have a full plate of just jellies. A great, full breakfast
for only $8.
</p>
<p>
They serve Water Street
Coffee and have a ton of other breakfast items like benedicts, omelets and
scramblers, breakfast burritos, griddle and sweet items like stuffed pancakes,
crepes, French toast, etc.
</p>
<p>
They also have a handful
of lunch items but be sure to check their hours because they’re not open late.
The East Egg near WMU is only open from 8am-2:00pm Monday through Friday and
until 2:30pm Saturday and Sunday.
</p>
<p>
Overall it’s a perfect
place that focuses on both healthy and delectable options with locally grown eggs, gluten-free choices, and much more. I can see this being a go-to weekend
breakfast stop for many people.
