LANSING, MI — Due to the semiconductor shortage, Lansing Grand River (LGR) Assembly will take downtime beginning the week of May 10 through the week of June 28. The plant had just reopened on May 3 for a limited production run.
However, LGR will build some limited pre-production of the 2022 Cadillac Blackwing series in May and June. The LGR plant sets just south of downtown Lansing and employs several thousand GM workers.
The semiconductor shortage is causing automakers to shutter production across the country. That in turn is causing a shortage of new vehicles on dealer’s lots. Many mid-Michigan car dealers say inventory levels are down at least 30 to 35 percent.
