LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — As online gambling became legal in Michigan this year, helpline calls for people struggling with gambling addiction spiked as well.
The Michigan Problem Gambling Hotline received 563 calls in February, more than five times the number received at that time last year.
Researchers attribute this to the high interest in online gambling which launched in January.
Officials stress that the hotline is available 24/7 at 1-800-270-7717.
