Description:
</p>
<p>
I always find myself going to the same breakfast restaurants,
so I wanted to try something new in Kalamazoo. The Colonial Kitchen Pancake
House is kind of tucked away off of Drake Road connected to other businesses in
a little strip. Inside it’s a very cute place that is very colorful and
inviting.
</p>
<p>
As a fair warning, service can be a little slower. Our
server was very friendly and apologetic, but we didn’t really mind the wait.
Just make sure you give yourself plenty of time if you plan on eating here,
especially on the busier mornings.
</p>
<p>
There’s a ton of options on the menu of pretty much every
kind of breakfast food you can think of. What caught my eye was the “Cheese
Blintz” because frankly I’ve never tried them before. If you’ve never heard of
them they’re pretty much like a thicker crepe, almost like a crepe and a
pancake combined and this kind was stuffed with a sour cream and cream cheese
blend and topped with strawberries and whipped cream. They were massive, not
too sweet, and very delicious.
</p>
<p>
My friend and I also split potato pancakes which
were very well done (almost burnt) but that was okay with me because I like
them on the crunchier side anyways. At first we thought we were going to need
more food but splitting both of those giant dishes filled us up really fast.
</p>
<p>
Don’t forget to check their hours before you head out
because they’re not open very long (6:30-2pm Monday through Saturday and
7:00-2pm on Sundays). Overall it’s a cute,
simple breakfast joint with friendly service, a busy atmosphere, big filling
dishes, and a reasonable price.
